Nuxalbari

Planted in 1884 by the Nawab of Jalpaiguri, for the last three generations Nuxalbari has been in the hands of very able women. The estate is located in the Dooars (“doors” in English) region of Darjeeling district, in the foothills of the Himalayas at an altitude of under 1,000 ft. The almost 500 hectare wooded estate boasts a rich ecosystem.

This tea garden lies adjacent to a village by the same name, which in the late 1960s was the birthplace of a violent movement led by far-left wing radical communists.

Nuxalbari produces organic tea with an emphasis on soil conservation and health, as well as a focus on the use of quality clones.
